A classic performance by the China Acrobatic Troupe has recently won the "Gold Award" for its fabulous diabolo show at the second Russian "Without Borders" International Circus Arts Festival in St. Petersburg, winning itself a large number of performance invitations.
"This is also a sign of China's overseas performance market, which has been stagnant for three years, being fully restarted," Li Chi, head of the China Acrobatic Troupe, said.
The circus festival was jointly organized by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Russian National Circus Company.
A total of 22 outstanding programs from 16 countries participated in the competition, including aerial, clown as well as the thrilling acrobatic performances.
The troupe's diabolo was created in 2003. The program is based on the traditional Chinese acrobatic program fused with Peking Opera elements.
In terms of styling, it uses feathers from Peking Opera costumes. This change not only puts higher requirements on the action design and skill level of the diabolo, but also brings a breakthrough change to the stage image of the performers. The classic Peking Opera charm adds a finishing touch to the program with Chinese elements.
"Participating in this international circus festival is an important step for the China Acrobatic Troupe to seize opportunities and restart the international performance market," said Li, adding that the troupe has also received commercial performance invitations from countries such as Turkey and Hungary.
