Chinese autonomous driving companies are gearing up efforts to enhance technology innovation as China is at the forefront of optimizing traffic and road safety.

Haomo.AI, an autonomous driving technology start-up backed by Great Wall Motor recently released three intelligent assisted driving products which are expected to be launched in 2023 and 2024, and the company said the self-driving generative large model DriveGPT will have stronger 4D space reconstruction capabilities.

The Beijing-based company said that their products, which are priced as low as 3,000 yuan ($413.8), is less than other comparable self-driving systems in the market.

The products, such as HP170, can realize autonomous driving in highways and expressways and short-distance memory parking, and HP370, with higher computing power and more radar sensors, and come with advanced parking ability. The last one HP570, with semi-autonomous on urban roads and all scenario parking assistance priced at 8,000 yuan, will be delivered to more than 100 cities.

The three kinds of products is more cost-effective, said Zhang Kai, chairman of Haomo.AI at the Open Day held in Beijing on Wednesday.

As of the DriveGPT, the company said the model has selected more than 10 billion frames of Internet image data sets and 4.8 million segments of autonomous driving 4D Clips data containing human driving behaviors, and the model will introduce more to realize stronger 4D space reconstruction capabilities.

The future autonomous driving system must be like a human driver. It not only has the ability to accurately perceive and measure three-dimensional space, but also can understand the connection between everything, the logic of events, and the common sense behind it like humans. AI can help generate better driving strategies based on these experiences of human society, and truly achieve fully driverless driving, according to Gu Weihao, chief executive officer of Haomo.AI.

China is on a fast track to develop autonomous driving, with the support of policies and efforts of the companies.

Pony.ai, a Chinese autonomous driving startup, has secured the first license to ensure the use of level-four self-driving taxi services in the main urban areas in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province on September 26.

Passenger cars with combined driver assistance, or Level 2 autonomous driving, accounted for 42.4 percent of all passenger car sales in China in the first half of 2023, reported Xinhua News Agency, citing Xin Guobin, vice minister of industry and information technology, at the 2023 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference held in September in Beijing.

A 56-km smart expressway, designed for level 4 autonomous driving, has started operating as a test section near Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province from Saturday, according to local transportation department.

China has a standard dividing autonomous driving into six levels from Level 0 to Level 5, of which Level 2 is combined driver assistance and Level 5 is fully automatic driving.
