Liaoning Advertising Vocational College in Northeast China has fired a security guard after an investigation confirmed that the guard had deliberately hung a stray dog to death.
According to a statement from the college, an investigation found that the security guard's actions in driving away the stray dogs was highly inappropriate, resulting in the death of one of the dogs and causing a serious negative impact. This incident reflects the inadequate education and management of security guards, and the college deeply apologizes for this, the statement read.
The incident in which a pet Rottweiler in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, injured a two-year-old child has led law enforcement agencies in many parts of the country to pay special attention to stray cats and dogs in urban areas.
Under public pressure caused by the serious injury of the girl, many local governments in China have strengthened management, including conducting inspections of pet dogs, imposing penalties for raising prohibited breeds or walking a dog without a leash.

The center is currently home to more than 180 stray dogs.
Chengdu has established a coordination group for dog management, which consists of various departments including public security, urban management, market supervision, health and education. The dog management coordination group has deployed a special campaign to shelter stray dogs and deal with uncivilized dog ownership behavior.
