China's northeastern region experienced its first blizzard of this winter on Monday, while a university in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province built a "snow-resistant" warm gallery that allows students to walk through it in light clothing, according to media reports.
Students from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) shared on social media on Monday the scenes of their way to class. Among them, some students were wearing shorts and short-sleeved shirts, and others were enjoying the snowy scenery while eating ice cream.
According to the HIT, the second phase of the campus warm gallery has been fully connected and is open for trial use. Students can now comfortably walk through the gallery wearing only light clothing. It takes only five minutes for them to reach classrooms, library, cafeterias, and dormitories.
Starting from 2022, the university has been implementing the construction of the campus warm gallery in three phases. At present, the third phase is still under construction, and once completed, wearing light clothing in winter will be fully achieved.
Many students expressed that the construction of the warm gallery is timely and saved them from the harsh winter weather.
