Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fo'an on Monday urged all APEC economies to strengthen macro-policy coordination, boost free trade and investment, strengthen regional industrial and supply chains and jointly build an open Asia-Pacific economy, as the global economic recovery remains volatile, including weak trade and investment.

Lan made the remarks while attending the APEC finance ministers meeting held in San Francisco, California, from Sunday to Monday, according to a statement posted on the website of the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.

The minister stressed that China's economy has maintained an upward recovery trend this year. Since the third quarter of the year onwards, more positive changes and internal growth momentum have gained pace. It's expected that Chinese economy will maintain upward trend in the fourth quarter, Lan said, adding that China is still an important driver of stable growth.

Lan said boosting supply-side structural reform is the only way to achieve high-quality development. The Chinese side will actively implement the eight major steps which China announced during the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, to support the joint pursuit of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, he said.

The minister noted that China supports Asia-Pacific economies to deepen supply-side reform and accelerate pace of modernization to inject new momentum to global development.

At the APEC finance ministers meeting, Lan detailed China's experiences in realizing preset climate control goals and promoting sustainable financial development. He called for APEC economies to strengthen cooperation to boost green development and energy transition and accelerate to implement the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

During the APEC meeting, Lan also met with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and senior officials from Australia and Singapore.
