The town of Qingshui in Mentougou, Beijing in recent successfully rescued nine trapped Chinese gorals, a second-level nationally protected wild animal. It is reported that this group of Chinese gorals rescued is the largest wild population ever monitored in the Beijing area.
On the afternoon of November 18, Qingshui town received a report from villagers that nine "wild goats" were found in an abandoned reservoir near Shuangda road. Subsequently, personnel from the local forestry station, forest police station, and collective forest farm rushed to the scene. Based on the preliminary assessment of the site, it was determined that these "wild goats" may have mistakenly entered the abandoned reservoir in search of water.
Immediately, a rescue team held a remote consultation with the forestry bureaus of Beijing and Mentougou district. After confirmation, it was determined that the nine "wild goats" were actually Chinese gorals. After assessment, the trapped gorals showed no obvious injuries, and the surrounding ecological environment was excellent. It was their habitat, so measures could be taken for on-site rescue and scientific release.
