Tianqi Lithium Corporation, a representative of important new energy material enterprises in China, was invited to attend the event entitled “Leading the Development Innovatively and Contributing to the Global Governance – Policy and Practice of Synergizing the Reduction of Pollution and Carbon Emissions in China.”
Delivering a keynote speech at the even, Jiang Anqi, a vice chairwoman of Tianqi Lithium Corporation, said, “We have to develop new energy resources, which have become the only way to solve the problems of global resource crisis and climate change.”
As an important metal in energy transition, lithium is a key raw material for the development of the new energy industry, especially the lithium battery industry. With the global net zero goal being pursued progressively and the energy consumption structure being adjusted, the lithium battery industry has ushered in unprecedented development, bringing opportunities to the downstream market demand and numerous challenges to the green development of enterprises, Jiang said.
As a new energy material enterprise that promotes the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategies, Tianqi Lithium Corporation implements the ESG strategy and carries out the three-step systematic carbon neutrality management of “cost accounting + carbon emission reduction + information disclosure in a very comprehensive manner” with reference to the PEF standard of the European Union. Meanwhile, on the path of reducing pollution and carbon emissions, the company has keept deepening its exploration of energy substitution, energy-saving technological transformation and process innovation.
In addition, during the presentation of the company’s achievements, Xia Juncheng, president of Tianqi Lithium Corporation, released the “White Paper 2023 on Sustainable Lithium Industry to Achieve the Target of Net Zero Emissions,” and launched the “Initiative of pursuing lithium dream together and achieving net zero goal,” calling for collaborative reduction of pollution and carbon emissions by both the upstream and downstream of the lithium value chain, so as to achieve net zero emissions of enterprise operations no later than 2050.
Moreover, Tianqi Lithium Corporation has taken the lead in keeping steadily reducing the carbon emissions within Range 1 and 2 in the existing scale of its main business, with a total emission reduction of more than 42% compared with the base year by 2030; moreover, the company is striving to achieve a 50% reduction in the emission level within Range 1, Range 2 and Range 3 of its main business compared with the base year by 2030 and to realize net zero emissions before 2050.
Nowadays, “green” and “low-carbon” stand at the forefront of the energy development worldwide, and have become a general consensus throughout the market to contribute to and promote the development of green and low-carbon industries. Tianqi Lithium Corporation, as the world’s leading new energy material enterprise with lithium as its core, has been fully engaged in the lithium industry for more than three decades. It has been listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZ. 002466) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (9696. HK).
Adhering to the philosophy of “never putting economic interests above safety and environmental protection,” it lays out lithium industry chains in China, Australia and Chile, focusing on global industry integration and configuration. Meanwhile, with the advanced practical achievements of ESG, it practices the concept of sustainable development of lithium industry and actively participates in the formulation of international standards together with partners in the value chain to continuously enhance the global influence of sustainable development.
