The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands Cai Weiming arrived in Honiara, capital of the Solomon Islands, on Monday to assume his post. Cai said that bilateral relations between the two countries have remained at the forefront of ties between China and Pacific Island Countries, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Solomon Islands said on Monday.
China is a trustworthy friend, a reliable brother and a sincere partner for common development to the Solomon Islands. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations four years ago, the two sides have made joint progress in development cooperation, and constantly explored and deepened people-to-people exchanges, said Cai.
The ambassador said that China is willing to further share the development opportunities of the Chinese path to modernization with the Solomon Islands, strengthen cooperation, expand the convergence of interests, and constantly enrich the content of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
"As the new Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, I look forward to deepening communication and expanding cooperation with friends from all circles of the Solomon Islands, and making unremitting efforts for the steady and sustained growth of China-Solomon Islands relations," Cai noted.
Cai expressed his sincere appreciation to friends from all circles of the Solomon Islands for their long-term help in fostering the growth of China-Solomon Islands relations and sent his cordial greetings and best wishes to the Chinese communities and institutions in the Solomon Islands, according to the embassy.
China opened its embassy in the Solomon Islands in 2020, one year after the two countries established diplomatic relations on September 21, 2019.
