A video circulated online showing a black bear from a circus in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, going out of control and allegedly attacking a trainer by biting his leg on the afternoon of December 10. The bear was later handled by trained professionals at the scene.

The staff of the circus responded by saying that since a child dropped his popcorn, the bear pushed the trainer away to eat the popcorn. No one was injured, and everything is normal now. The video shows that the black bear was performing a balancing act with the trainer when suddenly it lost control and knocked the trainer down, seemingly biting his leg. A staff member immediately intervened and shouted "let go" to drive the bear away. After releasing the trainer, the bear started eating the popcorn scattered around the ground, which lasted for about 10 seconds.

"The first row was filled with children, and there were many weekend visitors. If it hadn't been stopped immediately, a stampede could have happened. Looking back now, it was really scary," said the person who filmed the video. On the scene, staff stated that they had never encountered a similar situation before. In addition to the black bear's performance, the circus program also includes monkey cycling and equestrian performances.
