Recently, a college student surnamed Zhang and his classmates made a snow dragon sculpture that was 1.8 meters tall on campus in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning Province. Unexpectedly, it became a mascot for their friends' wishes, according to media reports on Wednesday.
Zhang said that he originally wanted to carve out a majestic dragon because the Year of the Dragon on the Chinese lunar calendar was approaching. However, when he finished it, he found that it was different from what he had imagined. Nevertheless, he still felt a sense of accomplishment and posted a photo online.
"As an ancient totem of the Chinese nation, the dragon has been passed down for thousands of years. I think the dragon is a constantly changing creature, just like us with multiple possibilities. The Year of the Dragon is coming soon, so I carved a small dragon. It is not as majestic as I imagined, nor as mysterious as the legends say, but I hope that in the new year, it can bring me good fortune and allow me to become my own undefined self!" Zhang wrote.
Unexpectedly, his classmates and friends liked it very much and even treated it as a mascot. "Many people used the photos I took to make wishes, which made me feel warm-hearted. I hope everyone's new year wishes can come true," Zhang added.
