The launch ceremony of the "Pucara Bulls: Ambassadors of the Peruvian Highlands" exhibition was held at the Jintai Art Museum in Beijing on December 19, 2023.

Marco Balarezo, Peruvian Ambassador to China shared the meaning of the Pucara bulls in Peru at the event. Balarezo said that the bulls are similar to the Chinese stone lions which represent protection against harmful spiritual influences on buildings. Meanwhile, the bulls are usually depicted in pairs on the roof to attract good fortune, happiness, and protection for the family.

Ambassador Balarezo underscored the charming conjunction of cultures between the two countries, despite their geographical distance. It also showcases the close friendship and mutual understanding between China and Peru.

Yuan Xikun, director of the Beijing Jintai Art Museum attended the event, and commended the exquisite crafts of the Pucara bulls. He said: "The advanced ideas and outstanding culture of mankind, like biological diversity, are not created by a single people, but are the common wealth of mankind."

Co-organized by the Peruvian Embassy in China and the Jintai Art Museum, this exhibition is expected to run until January 18, 2024.
