An exhibition is held at the 2024 China Ice and Snow Tourism Overseas Promotion Season special event on January 29, 2024.
A special event for the 2024 China Ice and Snow Tourism Overseas Promotion Season was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday.
During the event, Northeast China's Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces and Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region each presented their own cultural and tourism resources to the Malaysian audience.
During the New Year holidays, Harbin in Heilongjiang gained widespread attention, making ice and snow tourism a trending topic in China. The overseas promotion season aims to leverage China's advantages in ice and snow resources to attract more international tourists.
Song Wei, deputy director of the Network of International Culturalink Entities, highlighted the rich ice and snow tourism resources in northern China, which feature magnificent mountain scenery, unique ice and snow culture, and a variety of ice and snow activities. "In recent years, the rapid development of the ice and snow tourism industry in North China has established mature ice and snow tourism services, becoming a highlight in China's tourism sector," Song said.
Yeoh Soon Hin, deputy chairman of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Bureau, emphasized that tourism is the best channel for cultural exchanges. With the added incentives of visa-free policies between the two countries, Chinese-Malaysian tourism can reach new heights, he said. "This not only injects vitality into the tourism industry but also fosters closer cooperation between China and Malaysia in the cultural and tourism fields, contributing to a more splendid chapter for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations," Yeoh added.
Zhang Jiexin, director of the Chinese Culture Centre in Kuala Lumpur, pointed out that 2024 marks the ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges. "The implementation of visa-free policies opened a new era of tourism cooperation between the two nations. Malaysia, with its year-round tropical climate, finds the allure of northern ice and snow highly attractive," Zhang noted.
"It is believed that the Chinese inbound and outbound tourism market will enter a new stage of prosperous development. The tourism cooperation between the two countries is expected to usher in new historical development opportunities in the coming year," said Zhang.
