The Songyang County Public Security Bureau in East China's Zhejiang Province recently released the result of a theft case. According to media reports, in the early morning of October 6, 2023, the Songyang Public Security Bureau received a report from a passer-by, stating that a storefront of a gold shop in the county town was smashed and suspected of being looted.

Police quickly responded and, through on-site investigation and video tracking, swiftly identified five men as the suspects. On the same day, police arrested four of the suspects. In this case, the stolen gold was worth 300,000 yuan ($42,243). While on the run, the suspects had found the buyers - meaning that most of the stolen gold had been sold. Through extensive cross-province visits and work, police recovered all the stolen gold.

After hiding for three months, the last suspect, surnamed Zhuang, surrendered himself to police. According to his confession, upon returning, he discovered that several of his accomplices had lost contact, realizing that their whereabouts had been discovered by police. In order to evade arrest, he did not leave his hiding place for three months, nor did he dare to use a phone or the internet. He even refrained from using the money obtained from selling the stolen gold. When he turned himself in, Zhuang told police: "These days have been too unbearable." As of now, all the stolen gold has been recovered.
