American author and model Maye Musk is in China again as the country is preparing to celebrate the impending Spring Festival holidays.

Musk posted on February 3 photos of her visit to Shanghai's Yu Gardens on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and commented that "When in Shanghai, I saw the most magnificent displays for Year of the Dragon." 

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, son of Maye Musk, replied under his mom's post, writing "More people should visit China."

Maye Musk visited China several times last year, including once in March that created a sensation on Chinese social media when she toured a number of Chinese cities promoting her new books.

The comments made by Musk came as Chinese people prepare to celebrate the annual Spring Festival at the same time that China is seeking to woo more foreign visitors for business and tourism.

In recent months, the country announced a series of visa facilitation measures including those with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Brazil. It also unilaterally rolled out visa-free policies for citizens from a good number of European countries.

According to a report released by the China Tourism Academy on February, inbound visits by foreigners were at 36 percent of the pre-pandemic level and expected that the percentage to further rise to around 50 percent in 2024 as international air travel gradually recovers.
