To celebrate the 2024 Month of the Francophonie, The Embassy of Canada and the Office of the Government of Quebec in Beijing hosted a reception for the opening of the "Montrealers" exhibition in Beijing on March 7.
The Month of the Francophonie, an annual festival organized by the French Cultural Centre in collaboration with the embassies and missions of French-speaking countries in China, takes place in March. During this month, embassies and consulates of French-speaking nations, such as France, Switzerland, and Canada, organize a wide range of activities to present the culture of the French-speaking world to the Chinese public.
For the exhibition, 62 artists from Montreal created the cover of a fictional magazine that pays homage to Montreal in the style of The New Yorker. Their creations reveal a Montreal that is contemporary, multicultural, mesmerizing and surprising, taking people on a journey through time, space and everyday life that makes Montreal a heartwarming city full of humanity.
Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the capital of the French-speaking province of Quebec.
