During the ongoing two sessions, many members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from the realms of literature and art have expressed their concerns for the future high-quality and sustainable development of the micro-drama industry.
Zhang Kaili, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and national-level actress, believes that "small but fine, short but exquisite" should become the direction of the high-quality development of the micro-drama industry.
"An award mechanism for micro-dramas should be established to stimulate the creation of outstanding micro-drama and further deepen the development of the industry," said Zhang.
She proposed strengthening of the standardized management and platform audits, and a correct orientation of the content.
In the past two years, micro-drama has become a new trend to be reckoned in the cultural and entertainment market, as it has generated a huge traffic dividend and short videos have become popular.
Zhang Yiwu, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and professor at the Peking University, believes that the relevant management should be further improved and supervision should be strengthened. In his speech, professor Zhang mentioned policy support and fund incentives for micro-drama enterprises, talent and platforms, as well as incentives for micro-dramas to go overseas and expand internationally. Relevant international screenings and broadcasts or international activities of short micro-dramas should be organized to make overseas development smoother.
Providing management norms for the fast developing micro-drama industry, establishing a healthy development model and providing a reward mechanism for excellent works will promote and provide a reference for the high-quality development of micro-drama industry.
