A car successively collided with pedestrians and electric bicycles on Zhongshan road and Guangren road in Yuexiu district, Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday, leaving 11 injured, according to local police.
After receiving the report, the police quickly dispatched officers to the scene to handle the situation and assisted in transporting the injured to the hospital for treatment. Currently, the driver responsible, a 49-year-old man surnamed Huang, has been detained by the police, and the accident is still under further investigation and processing.
The incident occurred in the old city area of Guangzhou, where there is a high density of people. Witnesses stated that the driver occupied the non-motor lane for hundreds of meters, indiscriminately colliding with electric bicycles and pedestrians along the way.
According to eyewitnesses, the white vehicle involved in the accident allegedly traveled through the Zhongshan road, Zhongshan Fifth road, Guangda road, and Guangwei road in Yuexiu district, repeatedly entering a lane that motor vehicles are prohibited, colliding with electric bicycles and pedestrians at intersections. Finally, on Guangren road, it collided with a parked bus, causing the airbags to deploy and the vehicle to come to a stop.
Witnesses claimed that the driver, got out of the car with a cigarette in his mouth before fleeing the scene.
A video circulating on the internet shows that the white car driven by the driver involved in the accident colliding with a parked bus on the side of the road and stopped, after which the driver got out of the car and fled.
