Recently, Gulu village in Yongli township, Hanyuan county, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, suddenly began trending on social media platforms, with a continuous stream of tourists on the cliffside plank road, shoulder to shoulder.
Gulu village is a Yi ethnic village located on the cliffs at the entrance of the Dadu River Grand Canyon, known as the "village on Ladder" or "village on Cliff." On Monday, the head of the village, Zheng Wangchun, responded that the narrow mule road that tourists now hike on the cliffside is carved out on the cliffs of the Grand Canyon.
This mule road is about 6 kilometers long from the foot of the mountain to the top, with a vertical drop of about 1,000 meters. During the Two Sessions, more than 20,000 tourists visited the village, three times more than during the Spring Festival holidays. Zheng said that in the future, they will further improve the quality of service, promote local characteristics, and hope that more people will come to see the village on the cliff. "Tourism is not a one-time deal, we need to improve the quality of service to retain customers," he said.
