Chinese Commerce Ministry on Thursday welcomed Australia's latest move of ending anti-dumping measures against Chinese-made wind towers, saying the two countries share great cooperation potential in exploring clean energy.
China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Australia to jointly deal with global climate change. Meanwhile, it is hoped that the Australian side and the Chinese side can solve trade disagreements through dialogue, and that Australia is hoped to end other trade remedies against China at an early date, He Yadong, a spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.
Australia announced it would suspend trade remedy measures against Chinese wind towers when the current measures expire on April 16, 2024, according to a notice released by Australia's Department of Industry, Science and Resources on March 15.
Chinese experts told the Global Times that Australia's move is in line with Australia's green development plan, and is also
a "good gesture" by the Australia ahead of a visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
While meeting with former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating on Thursday, Wang said the two countries are situated in the Asia-Pacific region with their economies highly complementary and interests intertwined, and China and Australia should foster mutual understanding and trust to attain win-win cooperation, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday.
Wang noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership, which provides a pivotal occasion to summarize past experiences and forge ahead into the future. With joint efforts by both sides, China-Australia relations are returning to the right track now.
