The esteemed exhibition, Dutch Design Dynamics made its debut at the 2nd edition of Design Shenzhen. Running from March 21 till 24, this unique exhibition celebrated the legacy and road to an innovative future of Dutch design, with a special focus on the urgent topic about the industry's commitment to circular design principles.
The exhibition was organized by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Guangzhou, and co-organized by the Netherlands Business Support Office Shenzhen and Design Shenzhen.
For over 400 years, the Netherlands has been a frontrunner in innovation and design, from invention of the stock market to the design of large sailing vessels. It is often referred to as the Dutch Creative Economy Power, which was co-created in the 20th century by the design landscape of what we call Industrial Design. Some of the most iconic Dutch design pieces were created 100 years ago; however, some of these are still in production.
In recent years, Dutch Design has embraced a transformative approach toward sustainability, focusing on the dynamic future of a circular economy. This shift reflects a deep-seated commitment to environmental stewardship, where Dutch designers and brands are prioritizing renewable resources, advocating for recyclability, and minimizing waste.
This move toward circular design principles not only highlights Dutch dedication to environmental responsibility but also underlines its role as a beacon of innovation in design philosophy. Dutch design is setting a global example of how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated with aesthetic appeal, charting a path for a more sustainable future in design.
