On March 30, inside the CITIC Heavy Industries workshop in Jianxi District, Luoyang, machinery roared and welding sparks flew as workers rushed to fulfill orders. From January to February this year, CITIC Heavy Industries' electricity consumption reached nearly 47.31 million kWh, a year-over-year increase of 12.62 percent.

"As a major electricity consumer, with the support of the power supply company, we built the Yongxing substation and put it into operation within just five and a half months last year, which increased our power supply capacity by 50 percent and provided ample electricity for our company to strengthen traditional industries, refine emerging industries, and achieve leapfrog development," said Yuan Guangshou, General Manager of CITIC Heavy Industries Energy Supply Company.
Electricity consumption data often serves as a "barometer" and "weathervane" of economic activity. Since the beginning of 2024, multiple areas in Henan have launched initiatives to promote consumption and production, with overall electricity consumption showing a rapid growth trend.

According to the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company, Henan's total electricity consumption in the first two months of this year was 72.05 billion kWh, a year-over-year increase of 9.4 percent, which is 4.8 percentage points higher than the growth rate of last year. The doubling growth rate and rapid increase in electricity consumption signal a strengthening market vitality and a positive trend in economic recovery, demonstrating the resilience, potential, and vitality of Henan's economy. At the same time, electricity generation is becoming "greener" with a gradual increase in clean energy generation. From rows of photovoltaic panels to slowly rotating wind turbine blades, and to the ultra-high voltage “corridor” built specifically for transmitting clean energy, these elements all contribute to charging and energizing the Central Plains economy.
By the end of February 2024, Henan's cumulative installed power generation capacity was 14,037 kilowatts, of which renewable energy installations accounted for 45.2 percent of the province's total, a 0.6 percentage point increase from the end of 2023. From January to February this year, renewable energy generation was 13.3 billion kWh, up 8.2 percent year-over-year, accounting for 20.8 percent of the province's total power generation.
