Huawei's new flagship P70 smartphones are now available for pre-order subscription at some stores in China, and an industry analyst said that the new series will likely kick off its sales very soon.
Huawei held a spring product launch event online on Thursday, during which a number of new products including cars and computers were launched, but the much anticipated P70 series remained absent.
A manager surnamed Li at a Huawei dealership shop in Guangzhou city, South China's Guangdong Province, told the Global Times on Thursday the formal launch date for the P70 series remains unknown, but consumers can register with a deposit of 1,000 yuan ($138.2) to pre-order the device.
Li, who declined to be fully named as the smartphone hasn't been released yet, predicted that P70 series will likely encompass three smartphone models -- P70, P70 Pro and P70 Art. Their prices may be similar to the Mate 60 series, according to Li.
"Some fans of Huawei are placing pre-order subscriptions for the P70 phones at our store," Li said.
A manager of a dealership in Beijing said that the store also offers the pre-order subscription service, but that no cash deposit is required.
"Just like the Mate 60 phones, the sales of P70 series may kick off without any launch event. As far as I know, some Huawei stores have begun to make preparations for the sales of P70. Sales may kick off very soon," Xiang Ligang, director-general of the Beijing-based Information Consumption Alliance who closely follows Huawei, told the Global Times on Thursday.
Xiang is very positive about domestic market prospects of Huawei P70 series. Shipment of P70 phones may reach 10 million sets in 2024, he added
