The Beijing 2023 list of fine literature books was unveiled during the opening ceremony of the 14th Beijing Reading Festival at the Beijing City Library, a new cultural landmark in Beijing's Tongzhou district, on Monday.

Featuring 23 titles across six categories, the selected books include Mao Dun Literature Prize winning works Baoshui Village, Xue Shan Da Di (The Snow Mountain and the Homeland) and Along the Tarim River, a story that takes place near the Tarim River in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

According to the organizers, various reading activities throughout the year have reached more than 20 million people, contributing to a steady increase in Beijing's overall reading proficiency.

As China's national cultural center, Beijing adheres to the highest standards, fostering a vibrant reading culture under the brand of "Reading China, Beijing Reading Festival" and promoting a love for reading, good reading habits, and proficiency in reading.

Leading up to the World Book Day on April 23, the reading festival will host nearly 300 events across all districts of the capital city.
