Greek Ambassador to China Dr. Evgenios Kalpyris met with China's ultra-marathon runner Chen Penbin on April 12 at the Greek Embassy in Beijing.
Chen plans to participate in the Dolihos Ultra Race (Delphi-Olympia) that is set to take place on April 26. The race will start from Delphi in central Greece, passing through the Rio-Antirrio bridge, and finally ending at the ancient Olympia in Peloponnese, covering a total distance of 255 kilometers with a time limit of 48 hours.
Dr. Kalpyris talked with Chen and wished him good results in the race. It will be the third time that Chen will compete in Greece. In 2014, he clenched third place in the Dolihos Ultra Race.
The route consists of 60 percent dirt roads, forest, and hiking trails, and 40 percent asphalt roads. This route presents an extremely challenging test both physically and mentally, and only a few exceptionally skilled runners can finish the endurance event.
