China's steadfast progress toward high-quality development impressed a delegation of diplomats, who toured the Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Center and Wenchang International Aerospace City in South China's Hainan Province on Tuesday. They expressed profound interest in and optimism on the country's advances in scientific innovation and its promising huge market.

"I find Hainan's industrial integration intriguing," Marko Tiesmäki, country director of business Finland, told the Global Times on Wednesday, adding that the two countries have ample opportunities for collaboration in industrial digitalization and the circular economy.

Several diplomats have shown interest in the technical services at the supercomputing center, notably in aerospace and remote-sensing data.  They expressed awareness of potential cooperation with local supercomputing companies, said Ye Shiyang, chairman of Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Smart Technology Co.

"The preferential policies of China's government are quite advanced in high-tech sectors," which enable foreign companies to continuously explore business opportunities in China's market, a Japanese diplomat, who preferred not to be named, told the Global Times on Wednesday.

China is accelerating its pursuit of high-quality development driven by new quality productive forces and has seen significant outcomes. According to official data, the country's investment in high-tech industries increased by 11.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year, 2 percentage points faster than from January to February, and 6.9 percentage points higher than all investments.

Hainan, aspiring to be a national model of excellence in new quality productive forces, is vibrantly promoting its future industries with the aerospace sector as one of its industrial pillars, according to Hainan's Foreign Affairs Office.

The Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Center and Wenchang International Aerospace City are key future industrial zones in the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), focusing on building a world-class aerospace technology hub. In recent years, it has been providing aerospace-related services and products to the international market, a vivid example of the province's endeavor to promote new quality productive forces.

Looking ahead, an FTP system focusing on the free and convenient flow of trade and investment will be established in Hainan by 2025 and become more mature in the following decade, and by 2050, Hainan shall develop into a high-level FTP with a strong global influence in all respects, an official of Hainan's Foreign Affairs Office noted during the visiting.
