The British Embassy and Consulates in China launched the "UK Music Is More Than Music" series of events, aimed at introducing and promoting British music.
On Tuesday evening, as part of this series, the British Embassy hosted a screening. The documentary, the Rolling Stones concert film,
From London to Shanghai was shown to the audience.
On April 8, 2006, the British rock hall of fame band, The Rolling Stones brought their tour to Shanghai in East China, where the band performed their first concert in Chinese mainland.
Every classic song thrilled Chinese music fans, and Chinese rock pioneer Cui Jian even took the stage as a special guest to sing "Wild Horses" together with Mick Jagger. These rare images are all presented in the documentary.
After the screening, Chinese and British guests shared stories of how British music connects fans and cultures in both countries, and there was a British music quiz interaction as well as live music performances.
In the upcoming "UK Music Is More Than Music" events, the British Embassy and Consulates will continue to share popular British music through collaborations with artists, record companies, and live music venues.
