The original musical Lights and Shadow recently premiered in Beijing. With its intricate youthful story and pleasant musical melody, it ignited the enthusiasm of the audience. The musical will be staged over six consecutive nights at the Shanghai People's Grand Theatre starting from Thursday, followed by a tour across the country.  

Set against the backdrop of the entertainment industry, the musical tells the story of two aspiring youths. Driven by dreams, interests and inner demons, they become entangled, lose themselves in desire and grow up among thorns. Producer Liu Jing said that the musical is rooted in his authentic experiences within the entertainment industry and aims to reflect the complexity of human nature and philosophical nuances.

Directed by Guo Zhen, the musical features Liu Xuandou as composer, arranger and music director. The production team said they hope the musical can play a positive role in the development of original Chinese musicals.
