A suspect has been arrested after injuring three in a stabbing incident at a subway station in Shanghai on Wednesday, local police said.

At 8:28 am on Wednesday, a stabbing incident took place in a metro station of Metro Line 9 in Shanghai, China Central Television (CCTV) reported, citing a release from the Shanghai metro police.

The police quickly arrived at the scene and transferred the three injured individuals for medical treatment, while the suspect, a 54-year-old male surnamed Shen, has been arrested by the police, CCTV reported.

Further investigation remains underway, according to the police.

The subway station was temporarily closed following the incident, but has resumed normal operation as of time of press.
