A screening of the documentaryUs Against Uslaunched by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing was hosted in the capital on July 11.
The documentaryUs Against Us, directed by Andra Tarara, explores the profound impact of mental illnesses on family relationships through the intimate story of a father and his daughter.
The event is part of a joint campaign on the issue of disability launched by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) China, a European network of organizations engaging in cultural relations in China. Under the title "Ability over Disability," or more formally known as "There is ability in disability," this year's EUNIC campaign aims to use culture as a platform to raise awareness over disability issues, showcasing the remarkable determination and resilience of individuals with disabilities in managing everyday life tasks, while also promoting exchanges between Europe and China on this topic. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to further contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for people with disabilities and their relatives in our society and worldwide.
As part of this initiative, each EUNIC member will be invited to incorporate activities related to disability issues into their 2024 action plan.
