A new exhibition paying tribute to renowned artist Yan Dehui kicked off at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) on Tuesday.
As part of the NAMOC Donation and Collection Exhibition Series, the new exhibition
Shaping Techniques From Within, Yan Dehui Art Exhibition features over 40 artworks from Yan that were donated to the museum in 2019 through his daughter Marianne Yen.
The late artist's first exhibition in China, it covers traditional themes, family portraits and other works Yan created during his stay in France across three sections.
Wu Weishan, director of NAMOC, recalled his visit to Yan's family in France. He noted that Yan was one of the important Chinese artists who studied in France. After staying in France, he developed his own style in creation combining China's traditions and modern ways in sculptures.
According to Wu, although he hadn't met Yan, he could see the artist's deep feelings toward the motherland through these sculptures.
The exhibition is set to run until August 10.
