Chinese animation Zhanshen has gained attention from audiences since it began airing on streaming site Tencent Video on Wednesday. Adapted from the popular hit online novel, the series follows the story of Lin Qiye, a blind high school student who accidentally becomes a night watchman to protect the country from "mysterious" violations.

Praised for its group portraits, ultimate art style and diverse and cool music lineup, the series has been the center of attention since the trailer was first released. It was also one of the fastest adaptations of an online novel, which was first published in 2023.

The story involving the resurrection of ancient gods and the show's connection with real cities is wonderful and innovative, perfectly combining urban reality and imaginative fantasy.  In this world, people can use magical powers to fight. They are either inspired, awakened, or use forbidden objects to gain abilities called Forbidden Ruins. Different from ordinary people, Lin has been chosen by the gods. Hidden within his mind is a mental health hospital of the gods, from which Lin derives his power. All of these elements add magic to the story, getting more attention from young viewers.
