People celebrated the Ghantakarna Festival, a Nepalese Newari festival celebrating the defeat of the mythical demon Ghanta-karna ("bell-ears"), in Bhaktapur, Nepal.

On the day of Ghantakarna, People make a human-sized effigy out of straws/hay and bamboo, in the form of a demon. The demon is put up at crossroads and burnt at the end of the day.

Members of the Newar community observe the festival to chase away evil spirits and usher in good fortune.
