CMC Pictures has secured the international distribution rights for the Chinese comedy "Successor," starring Shen Teng and Ma Li. This summer blockbuster premiered on August 1 in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, with more regions to follow.

"Successor" reunites Shen Teng and Ma Li with directors Yan Fei and Peng Da-Mo, alongside Slinky Town Pictures. The team previously created the hit "Goodbye Mr. Loser" (2015), earning a dedicated fanbase known as 'Slinky Town.'

The film follows a wealthy couple, Ma Chenggang (Shen Teng) and Chunlan (Ma Li), who simulate poverty to teach their son, Ma Jiye (Xiao Bochen), the values of hard work. Despite the hardships, Ma Jiye excels academically but begins to notice the odd behavior of those around him.

Since its China premiere on July 16, "Successor" has become a box office sensation, grossing over $120 million in just two days. With its humor and star power, "Successor" is set to entertain international audiences and highlight the strength of Chinese cinema on the global stage.
