A father who started learning alongside his child with the goal of helping him get better scores was motivated to pursue his studies, and this summer, the father and the child both received admission letters to Chinese universities.

Liu Aohan, a high school graduate from Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, was accepted into Beihang University in Beijing this summer, while his father also received an acceptance letter from Guangxi Normal University.

Some netizens called the story ‘awesome,’ while others found it a touching example of the bond between a father and son, a worthy lesson for other families.

Since his son’s grades were not that impressive, Liu decided to study with his child for the purpose of helping him develop effective study habits and overcome difficulties. The two took online classes and discussed schoolwork together, which continued until the son graduated from high school.

During the journey, Liu felt that supporting his son’s education was his duty as a father, but he also was encouraged to improve himself academically. “Accompanying my child in studying has provided me with the opportunity to trust myself to continue on my learning adventure,” Liu said. He decided to take the college entrance exam together with his son.

After the two received their college acceptance letters, the boy said it was ‘so cool’ for they to receive the acceptance letters, while Liu wrote a heartfelt letter to his son, expressing his deep pride and best wishes.
