Student of Japanese school in Shenzhen stabbed near school, attacker apprehended on site: FM spokesperson

 A 10-year-old student from the Shenzhen Japanese School was stabbed by a man approximately 200 meters from the school on Wednesday morning, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said. 

Responding to a media inquiry regarding the stabbing in Shenzhen, Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during a regular press briefing on Wednesday afternoon that the 10-year-old student from the Shenzhen Japanese School was stabbed by a man about 200 meters away from the school on Wednesday morning. The injured student was sent to the hospital immediately and is undergoing emergency treatment, said the spokesperson. Lin also revealed that the attacker has been apprehended at the scene, while the case is currently under investigation. 

According to a statement released earlier on Wednesday by the Nanshan branch of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, local police received a report that a knife attack occurred, injuring a minor surnamed Shen, at around 8 am on Wednesday in Zhaoshang community of Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Upon receiving report, the bureau immediately sent police to the scene to deal with the situation. A 44-year-old male suspect surnamed Zhong, was apprehended on site. The police also assisted in rushing the injured student to hospital for treatment, according to the statement, which also said the investigation of the case and the treatment of the injured are ongoing.
