The Syrian Foreign Ministry denounced an Israeli airstrike on the Syria-Lebanon border on Friday, accusing Israel of targeting civilians and vital infrastructure in its ongoing campaign of aggression.

According to the ministry, the airstrike hit the Jdeidat Yabous crossing, also known as the Masnaa crossing in Lebanon, a key transit route used by tens of thousands of Lebanese refugees and Syrian citizens fleeing the Israeli assault in Lebanon.

The attack disrupted traffic on the international highway, which the ministry described as a "lifeline" between the two neighboring countries.

"We condemn this reckless Zionist criminality that has now extended to targeting civil defense teams and humanitarian aid workers," the ministry said in a statement.

"We call for an immediate halt to these violations and demand accountability for this entity's crimes, ensuring that it does not escape punishment," it added.

The border attack occurred amid heightened tensions along the Syria-Lebanon border, as Israel continues its relentless bombardment of southern Lebanon in its war against Hezbollah fighters.
