The State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office responded to Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te's blatant secessionist remarks and former leader Tsai Ing-wen's upcoming visit to European countries in two statements on Tuesday and Wednesday, a move that experts said will demonstrate more clearly to the world that it is the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities that are undermining regional security and acting as the cause of turmoil in the region.

Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office, responded on Wednesday that "No matter what the DPP authorities say or do, it cannot change the fact that Taiwan is part of China, nor can it alter the doomed fate of 'Taiwan independence,'" following media reports that former Taiwan regional leader Tsai Ing-wen will visit Czech Republic and some other European countries in the coming days.

Zhu also urged relevant countries to adhere to the one-China principle, handle the Taiwan question with caution, refrain from sending erroneous signals to the 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces, and avoid providing any platform for the dissemination of their separatist rhetoric.

Tsai's visits are destructive to peace and stability. The DPP authorities have been constantly crafting publicity stunts in Europe, which will eventually bring turmoil and crisis, a situation that the majority of people are unwilling to see, Li Haidong, a professor from the China Foreign Affairs University, told the Global Times on Wednesday.

Lai reportedly claimed on Saturday that "If anyone in Taiwan wants to say happy birthday to the People's Republic of China (PRC), please do not call it the motherland." Lai made the comments after some Taiwan actors recently said happy birthday to the PRC, as reported by media.

Zhu on Tuesday slammed Lai for his "motherland fallacy," reiterating that Taiwan is part of the sacred territory of China. Lai recycled the "Taiwan independence" fallacy once again, exposing his stubborn adherence to a "Taiwan independence" stance and his malicious intent to escalate hostility and confrontation, Zhu said.

Experts said that Lai's blatant remarks are a provocation and challenge to the international consensus on the one-China principle. It clearly underscores that he and the DPP authorities are the culprits behind the instability in the Taiwan Straits, as well as significant disruptors of both regional and global security.

The new "two-state" rhetoric proposed by Lai, constantly hyping that the two sides are "not subordinate" to each other, lacks recognition from the international community, making it a prime example of behavior that is seen as laughable and representing a departure from established international principles and common sense, Li added.

This demonstrates once again that it is an extremely dangerous move for the "Taiwan independence" forces to disregard the fact and the international consensus that Taiwan belongs to China, and to insist on stirring up turmoil in the region and on serving as a pawn of certain major powers, expert said.

"I believe that the frequent and timely statements made by the Taiwan Affairs Office will spread to a broader international level," Li said, thereby consolidating the international consensus that Taiwan belongs to China and enabling the international community to have a clearer picture of who are the spoilers.
