The French Embassy in China and the National Museum of China (NMC) jointly organized a literary round table on Notre Dame de Paris, a dialogue to explore the literary and artistic charm of Notre Dame de Paris based on the literary works of Victor Hugo at the auditorium of the NMC in Beijing on October 11.

The round table was moderated by Sarah Briand, Cultural Attaché for Books and Discussion of Ideas at the French Embassy in China.

The dialogue covered topics, including how "the Hunchback of Notre Dame" has been translated around the world as well as translated into Chinese many times? And how did Notre Dame de Paris travel through history and become an architectural and literary monument?

The panelists at the dialogue were Huang Yaqin, a French literature editor at the Shanghai Translation Publishing House; and Yu Zhongxian, professor and PhD advisor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Zhu Xiaoyun, who is responsible for international relations at the NMC. She is also the curator of the Notre Dame de Paris exhibition in augmented reality.

From September 12 to October 20, Notre Dame de Paris, the augmented reality exhibition has been and will continue to be featured at the NMC.

The event coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France and is part of the Franco-Chinese Year of Cultural Tourism and the "Croisements 60" festival.
