A woman pulling over her car on a highway in Hangzhou city, East China's Zhejiang Province, to carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her dying pet dog on Sunday sparked heated discussions on China's social platform Sina Weibo.

Local traffic police patrolling the highway spotted a car stopped on the hard shoulder of the highway but leaving one-fourth of the vehicle on the roadway, obliging passing trucks to give way. The female car owner was found conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her dying pet dog.

The woman was crying and seeking help from the officer. She said that her pet dog had been accompanying her for more than 10 years. Afterward, the police officer drove her car off the highway and contacted a veterinarian at a nearby pet hospital, and warned the woman about the dangers of stopping on the highway.
