China and Vatican have decided to extend their provisional agreement on the appointment of bishops for an additional four years, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.

Signed in 2018, the agreement has been extended twice, in 2020 and 2022, with both sides expressing positive evaluations of its implementation. Through friendly consultation, the two sides decided to extend the agreement and both parties will maintain constructive engagement and dialogue to further improve China-Vatican relations, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at Tuesday's routine press briefing.
