In response to questions about the reported agreement between China and India on border patrols in disputed areas, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian confirmed the progress during a regular press conference on Tuesday.

Lin said that China and India have maintained close communication through diplomatic and military channels on border-related issues. Currently, the two sides have reached resolutions on the relevant matters, which China speaks highly of.

In the next phase, China will work with India to effectively implement these resolutions, spokesperson Lin added.

"India and China have reached an agreement on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in border areas leading to disengagement and a resolution of the issues that had arisen in 2020 and we will be taking the next steps on this," India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Monday, according to The Times of India.

China and India held the 30th round of the Meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs in New Delhi in July 2024, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was attended by delegates from diplomatic, national defense, and immigration departments. The two sides agreed to maintain communication through diplomatic and military channels, strengthen negotiation mechanisms, accelerate the negotiation process, achieve an early solution of the border situation, and promote stable and healthy development of China-India relations. Both sides agreed to strictly abide by the agreements and protocols already reached and continue to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas.
