A new exhibition at the China Millennium Monument features over 200 photos presenting the beauty of nature, history, humanity and innovation to visitors. The works serve as witnesses to history and Beijing's development in the modern era.
At the opening of the
Hello Beijing photo exhibition, Wang Wenyang, vice chairman of the China Artistic Photography Society, said that as someone who grew up and lives in Beijing, he has deep feelings for the city. As a photographer, he hopes to record the changes taking place in Beijing through photography.
Over the past 40 years, he has taken his bike out every weekend to take pictures of people in Beijing.
For the exhibition, the curatorial team noted they aim to present more perspectives for visitors, who are probably quite familiar with the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, to discover the rich and diverse beauty of Beijing.
Living in Beijing for years, many visitors may feel that these photos are familiar and new at the same time as many familiar sites have been given new vitality through the lens of photographers.
Divided into four sections, the exhibition features 208 photos and six video works, covering topics from Beijing's Central Axis - the 7.8-kilometer-long north-south line through the capital's historical center that was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on July 27 - to the Great Wall.
The exhibition is set to run until October 28.
