A concert featuring the folk music of Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, took place at the Beijing Concert Hall recently.
The concert includes two parts. The first half, titled Poetry and Songs, showcased original compositions celebrating Chinese cultural confidence and patriotic sentiment by renowned lyricists and composers.
The second half, themed Hometown Sound, Heartfelt Voice, focused on works with rich Wenzhou local elements, including classics from Wenzhou, reinterpretations of local dialect folk songs, and new pieces by contemporary artists dedicated to the region.
"Hearing these music pieces with Wenzhou folk characteristics in the capital is incredibly moving. I deeply admire the Wenzhou City Choir's dedication and commitment to their original mission," Wu Beiti, a former member of the Wenzhou City Choir now working in Beijing, said after the performance.
