On October 18, the "5th Electric AI Conference and 3rd Power Industry Digital Transformation Conference" opened in Hefei, East China’s Anhui Province. The "ZhiChuang Award" 2024 Electric Digital & Intelligent Transformation Technology Innovation Application Selection and Award Ceremony was held during the conference.

At the event, State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company's "Smart Line Wireless Coverage Application Technology" was honored with the "Electric IoT Technology Innovation Award," making it the sole recipient of this award.

The conference delved into various topics, including key technologies for the digital and intelligent transformation of electricity, new types of electric power digitization and intelligence, digital transformation of energy and electric power enterprises, network and information security in the new power system, virtual power plants, and the electricity market.

With the continuous advancement of China's power grid construction, multiple types of online monitoring devices for transmission lines have been developed. However, on the same tower, multiple sets of independent monitoring terminal boxes are configured according to different monitoring functions.

The power supplies, main control boards, and communication modules of different monitoring terminals are completely independent, and the communication interfaces and protocols between monitoring terminals and sensors are not standardized, leading to issues such as interoperability across manufacturers.

Meanwhile, with the widespread use of AI devices such as video and image monitoring devices and sensor acquisition devices in the inspection of transmission, transformation, and distribution lines, although AI device inspection offers high efficiency, high quality, and terrain-independent operation, there is a lack of a unified access convergence gateway for related smart devices, preventing unified access and control of these devices.

Under the guidance of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company, the "Smart Line Wireless Coverage Application Technology" developed by State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company can specifically address the aforementioned issues. It employs a combination of hardware and software encryption during transmission to provide multiple layers of protection for data transmission. Additionally, this innovative approach integrates edge computing capabilities for real-time analysis, processing, and storage of collected data, enhancing data processing speed and accuracy while reducing the burden on the cloud platform.

State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company will continue to strengthen technological innovation and research efforts, further promoting the deep integration of the electric power industry with AI and digital technologies, and accelerating the pace of digital transformation in the electric power industry.
