To celebrate the 79th United Nations Day, the UN in China hosted an event at its compound in Beijing on October 29.

The UN Day marks the anniversary of the UN Charter's entry into force in 1945. Celebrated annually, the occasion offers an opportunity to reaffirm the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that have guided the Organization and the international community for the last 79 years.

The year 2024's UN Day celebrations focused on the theme of "Shaping our common future" in line with the concept of "aspire, connect, and transform," aiming to highlight the importance of collective action in the face of global challenges.

Representatives from the Chinese government, UN member states, United Nations agencies in China, academia, business circle, civil society, media, and partners from other relevant departments participated in the event.

During the celebrations, performances including magical face-changing in Sichuan Opera, a century-old Chinese intangible cultural heritage, were staged for delegates and guests.
