Following established practice, China has invited Myanmar leader to attend the Greater Mekong Subregion Summit, Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, in response to a question related to Myanmar's leader Min Aung Hlaing's visit to China.

Myanmar is an important country in the region and has actively participated in regional cooperation mechanisms, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said during a routine press conference.

Mao added that details of this visit will be released in a timely manner.

The eighth Greater Mekong Subregion Summit will be held in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan Province, from November 6 to 7. Premier of the State Council Li Qiang will chair the summit. Leaders of the five Mekong countries of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, and President of the Asian Development Bank will attend the summit upon invitation, Mao announced on Monday.
