A woman surnamed Dong, from Central China's Henan Province, took a genetic test after colleagues joked that she didn't look like a local, and discovered she was originally from South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and not biologically related to her parents.
"Once I started working, my colleagues often commented that my appearance and demeanor were quite different from theirs," Dong told local reporters in an interview.
Following this, Dong went for a genetic test out of curiosity. The results revealed she was originally from southern China, more specifically from Guangxi, as reported by the media.
"Now my thoughts are quite simple that is to find my biological parents," Dong told reporters.
Fortunately, the local volunteers who are dedicated to helping people find their birth parents found a childhood photo resembling Dong by searching in an information database based on relevant information from Dong, media said.
