The 10th Asia-Pacific Energy Sustainable Development Forum was held in Tianjin from Nov 5 to 8, gathering more than 300 delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region. The four-day event comes at a crucial time, just ahead of the 2024 APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting scheduled in Lima, Peru.

Hosted by the APEC Sustainable Energy Center (APSEC), the forum brought together key figures including Zhang Jianhua, Administrator of China's National Energy Administration; Zhao Yali, Vice President of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation; Ariadne BenAissa, Lead Shepherd of APEC Energy Working Group; and Yang Xianjin, Party Secretary of Tianjin University.

The forum marked APSEC's decade of achievement with several milestone announcements during its opening ceremony on Nov 6. A significant development was the establishment of a joint operation center for future clean energy technology, launched in partnership with China Energy Investment Corporation. APSEC also unveiled its flagship publication, the "APEC Urban Energy Report" and recognized the contributions of international experts, partners, and cities that have supported its mission over the past 10 years.

"This forum serves as a crucial platform for promoting sustainable energy development across APEC economies through knowledge sharing, technical exchange and pragmatic cooperation," said APSEC President Zhu Li, emphasizing the forum's role in advancing regional energy collaboration.

The gathering has drawn wide participation from across the region, including official representatives from 15 APEC economies and delegates from 16 international organizations such as UN ESCAP, IRENA, ASEAN Centre for Energy, and the World Economic Forum.

The forum's discussions on energy access, energy transition and sustainable cities are expected to significantly influence the upcoming APEC Leaders' Meeting, where these topics will be prioritized in the outcome documents, reflecting APEC's ongoing commitment to energy security and transformation in the Asia-Pacific region.
