As a warm-up activity for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland in 2025, the Embassy of Switzerland in China and the Today Art Museum jointly launched an exhibition titled "Swiss Design Classics" featuring at least 200 iconic Swiss design works in Beijing on November 8.
This is the largest and, to date, most complete undertaking of original pieces of Swiss design in China, curator Christian Herren told the Global Times.
In his opening remarks, Swiss Ambassador to China Jürg Burri said that these exhibits - three tons of designed items and exhibits from Switzerland, 75 chairs - will be traveling through China to at least eight cities throughout the 75th anniversary year.
The designed artifacts "represent something that China and Switzerland share. The Chinese people and the Swiss people, we both like technology, we both like quality, we both like design, and we all like it when it's a bit progressive and top notch. That's why I think, design is a very good thing to symbolize our good relations for 75 years," he said.
