Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, on Thursday visited the Airshow China 2024 currently being held in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong Province.
Shoigu visited the weaponry hall at the airshow in the morning, where Chinese developed equipment including tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, drones and light arms are displayed.
He then visited the aerospace hall, where he learned about the development of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy at the PLA Navy's exhibition booth. He was introduced to China's aircraft carrier and amphibious assault fleet, including the Type 075 amphibious assault ship and the Type 071 dock landing ship.
Shoigu also visited the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) exhibition hall, where he learned about China’s independently developed fifth-generation fighter jets, the J-20S and the J-35A.
Shoigu is in China for the 19th round of the annual China-Russia strategic security consultations, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.
This is Shoigu's first visit to China since assuming his new role as Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council since stepping down as Russian Defense Minister, CCTV said.
